It was Friday afternoon and Emma was excited about the weekend. She called her best friend Sophie. 'Hi Sophie! Do you have any plans for the weekend?' Emma asked. 'Not yet! I was hoping you would call,' Sophie replied happily. 'What do you want to do? I have some ideas,' said Emma. 'Tell me! I am ready for an adventure,' Sophie said. 'On Saturday morning, we could go hiking in the mountains,' Emma suggested. 'That sounds wonderful! I love hiking,' Sophie agreed. 'We should leave early, around seven o'clock,' Emma said. 'Seven is a bit early for me. Can we say eight?' asked Sophie. 'Eight works for me. I will pick you up at your house,' Emma offered. 'Perfect! What should I bring?' Sophie wanted to know. 'Bring comfortable shoes, water, and some snacks,' Emma replied. 'Should I bring my camera too?' Sophie asked. 'Definitely! The views will be amazing,' Emma said enthusiastically. 'What about Saturday afternoon? Do you have plans?' asked Sophie. 'After hiking, I thought we could have lunch in the village,' Emma explained. 'There is a nice restaurant near the hiking trail,' she added. 'I know that restaurant! They have delicious pasta,' Sophie said excitedly. 'After lunch, we could go to the lake,' Emma suggested. 'That sounds relaxing. Is the water warm enough to swim?' Sophie wondered. 'Yes, the weather forecast says it will be sunny and warm,' Emma confirmed. 'I will bring my swimsuit then,' said Sophie. 'Great idea! Now let us talk about Sunday,' Emma continued. 'Do you have ideas for Sunday too?' Sophie was curious. 'I was thinking we could visit the new art museum,' said Emma. 'Oh, I heard about that! There is a special exhibition,' Sophie remembered. 'Yes, they have paintings from famous artists,' Emma explained. 'What time does the museum open?' Sophie asked. 'It opens at ten in the morning,' Emma replied. 'That is perfect. We can sleep late on Sunday,' Sophie said happily. 'After the museum, shall we have brunch somewhere?' Emma suggested. 'I know a lovely cafe near the museum,' said Sophie. 'They serve the best pancakes in town,' she added. 'Pancakes sound amazing! This weekend will be so fun,' Emma said. 'Wait, I have one more idea,' Sophie said suddenly. 'What is it?' Emma asked curiously. 'On Sunday evening, there is a concert in the park,' Sophie explained. 'A concert? What kind of music?' Emma wanted to know. 'It is a jazz band. They are quite popular,' Sophie said. 'I love jazz! Is the concert free?' Emma asked. 'Yes, it is free! We just need to bring a blanket to sit on,' Sophie replied. 'What a perfect ending to the weekend!' Emma said enthusiastically. 'Let me write everything down so we do not forget,' Sophie offered. 'Good idea. Saturday: hiking, lunch, and swimming,' Emma listed. 'Sunday: museum, brunch, and jazz concert,' Sophie continued. 'This will be the best weekend ever!' both friends said together. 'I cannot wait for tomorrow,' Emma said with a big smile. 'Me neither! See you tomorrow at eight!' Sophie said. 'Do not forget your camera and swimsuit!' Emma reminded her. 'I will not forget anything. Goodbye!' Sophie laughed. Emma hung up the phone and started to pack her bag. She was happy to have such a good friend. Weekends are always better with friends.
