1Forming Comparatives
Polish comparatives are formed by adding -szy (or -ejszy after soft consonants) to the adjective stem. Adjectives ending in -ny become -niejszy, and those ending in -ki/-gi/-chi become -szy with consonant changes. The comparative agrees in gender, number, and case with the noun.

Several common adjectives have irregular comparative forms that must be memorized. These include dobry → lepszy (good → better), zły → gorszy (bad → worse), duży → większy (big → bigger), and mały → mniejszy (small → smaller). These are among the most frequently used.

4Comparison Structures
To compare two things, use niż (than) after the comparative: On jest wyższy niż ja (He is taller than me). For equal comparisons, use tak... jak (as... as): Jestem tak wysoki jak ty. The word 'od' with genitive can also express 'than'.
