Tom is twelve years old. He goes to school every day. Tom likes school, but he does not like math. Math is very difficult for him. Tomorrow there is a big math test. Tom is very worried about the test. He comes home from school and sits at his desk. He opens his math book. There are many numbers and problems. Tom reads the first problem. He does not understand it. His mother comes into his room. 'Do you need help?' she asks. 'Yes, please,' Tom says. His mother sits next to him. She explains the problem slowly. Tom listens carefully. Now he understands! They practice more problems together. After two hours, Tom feels better. He eats dinner with his family. Then he goes to bed early. The next morning, Tom wakes up. He eats breakfast and goes to school. The teacher gives everyone the test. Tom reads the questions. He knows the answers! Tom writes carefully and finishes the test. He smiles because he did his best. Studying hard was the right thing to do.
