1Numbers 1-20
Portuguese numbers 1-20 must be memorized individually. Note that um/uma (1) and dois/duas (2) have masculine and feminine forms that agree with the noun they modify. The other numbers are invariable.

2Tens (20-90)
The tens in Portuguese follow a regular pattern from 30 onwards with the suffix -enta. Twenty (vinte) is irregular. To form numbers like 21, 35, etc., use the tens + 'e' (and) + units.

3Compound Numbers (21-99)
Compound numbers in Portuguese are formed with tens + e + units. The conjunction 'e' (and) is always used between tens and units. Numbers with 1 or 2 still agree in gender with the noun.

4One Hundred
One hundred has two forms: cem (exactly 100) and cento (100+ when followed by other numbers). Use cem alone, but cento e for 101-199. This distinction is important in Portuguese.
