1Forming the Conditional with 'Zou'
Dutch conditional is formed with 'zou/zouden' (would) + infinitive. 'Zou' is used for singular, 'zouden' for plural. The infinitive goes to the end of the clause. This construction expresses what would happen under hypothetical conditions.

2Conditional Sentences (Als-Clauses)
Dutch conditional sentences use 'als' (if). For hypothetical present: als + past tense → zou + infinitive. For hypothetical past: als + past perfect → zou + hebben/zijn + past participle. Word order in the als-clause puts the verb at the end.

3Conditional Past
The conditional past expresses what would have happened. Form it with 'zou/zouden' + 'hebben/zijn' + past participle. Use it for past hypotheticals, regrets, and unfulfilled possibilities. The participle goes to the end.

4Polite Expressions
The conditional makes requests more polite in Dutch. Use 'zou' with 'willen', 'kunnen', 'mogen' for courteous requests. 'Was' + past participle can also express wishes. These constructions are essential for formal and polite Dutch.
