Today is Marco's first day at the factory. He arrives early in the morning. The building is large and gray. A woman named Lisa meets him at the entrance. 'Welcome to the company,' she says with a smile. Lisa is the safety manager at the factory. 'Before you start working, we need to discuss safety rules,' she explains. Marco nods and follows her to a meeting room. The room has posters about safety on the walls. Lisa gives Marco a booklet with important information. 'This booklet explains all the safety procedures,' she says. Marco opens the booklet and looks at the pictures. 'First, you must always wear protective equipment,' Lisa begins. She shows him a yellow helmet, safety glasses, and thick gloves. 'You must wear these every time you enter the factory floor,' she explains. Marco tries on the helmet and it fits perfectly. 'The machines here can be dangerous,' Lisa continues. 'Never put your hands near moving parts.' Marco looks at a large machine with spinning wheels. He understands why the rules are so important. 'What should I do if there is an emergency?' Marco asks. Lisa points to a red button on the wall. 'This is the emergency stop button,' she explains. 'If you see any danger, press this button immediately.' Marco sees there are emergency buttons all around the factory. Lisa also shows him the fire extinguisher and first aid kit. 'You need to know where these are located,' she says. Marco takes notes in a small notebook. He writes down the location of every safety station. 'You are very organized,' Lisa says approvingly. Next, they walk through the factory together. Lisa shows Marco the yellow lines painted on the floor. 'Always walk inside these lines,' she says. 'The forklifts drive outside the yellow area.' Marco hears a loud beeping sound. A forklift passes by, carrying heavy boxes. 'That beeping warns people that a forklift is coming,' Lisa explains. They continue to the break room. 'This is where you can rest and eat your lunch,' Lisa says. Marco sees tables, chairs, and a coffee machine. Some workers are having coffee and talking. 'Take breaks when you need them,' Lisa advises. 'Being tired can lead to accidents.' Marco thanks Lisa for the detailed tour. 'I feel much safer now that I know the rules,' he says. Lisa smiles and hands him his employee badge. 'Now you are ready to start,' she says. Marco puts on his badge and feels proud. He is excited to start his new job at the factory. Safety first, and then great work can begin.
