Maria arrived in London on a rainy Tuesday morning. She had dreamed of visiting this city for many years. At the airport, she took the underground train to her hotel. The train was crowded with people going to work. Maria looked at the map on her phone to find the right station. Her hotel was near Paddington Station. After checking in, she went out to explore the city. The first place she wanted to see was Big Ben. She walked along the River Thames and enjoyed the view. The famous clock tower was even more beautiful than in photos. Near Big Ben, she saw the Houses of Parliament. A group of tourists was taking pictures in front of the building. Maria asked a friendly stranger to take her photo. Then she crossed Westminster Bridge to the other side. The London Eye stood tall against the grey sky. She decided to buy a ticket and ride the giant wheel. From the top, she could see the whole city below. It was an amazing experience. After the ride, Maria felt hungry. She found a small cafe near the river and ordered fish and chips. The waiter was very helpful and recommended some local places to visit. In the afternoon, she took a red double-decker bus to Buckingham Palace. The palace gates were impressive. She watched the guards in their tall black hats. Unfortunately, the Changing of the Guard had already finished. Maria decided to visit the palace gardens instead. The gardens were peaceful and full of beautiful flowers. She sat on a bench and wrote postcards to her family. Later, she walked through Hyde Park. People were jogging, walking their dogs, and having picnics. Maria bought an ice cream from a vendor near the lake. She watched the swans swimming gracefully in the water. In the evening, she visited Covent Garden. Street performers were entertaining the crowds. A magician did card tricks that amazed everyone. Maria clapped and put some coins in his hat. She had dinner at an Italian restaurant nearby. The pasta was delicious and reminded her of home. After dinner, she walked back to her hotel. The city looked magical with all the lights at night. Maria felt tired but very happy. She had seen so many wonderful things in just one day. Tomorrow, she planned to visit the British Museum. She fell asleep thinking about all the adventures ahead. London had already stolen her heart.
