Last Saturday, my friend Emma called me with an exciting idea. 'Let's go stargazing tonight!' she said. I agreed immediately because I love looking at the night sky. We decided to drive to the countryside, away from the city lights. Emma brought a blanket and a thermos of hot chocolate. I packed sandwiches and a star chart from my childhood. We left the city around eight in the evening. The drive took about forty-five minutes. When we arrived, the sky was already getting dark. We found a nice spot on a small hill. Emma spread the blanket on the grass. We sat down and looked up at the sky. At first, we could only see a few stars. But slowly, more and more stars appeared. 'Look, there is the Big Dipper!' I said, pointing upward. Emma found the North Star using my star chart. The night was cool but not too cold. We drank our hot chocolate to stay warm. I showed Emma how to find the constellation Orion. 'I can see his belt!' she said excitedly. Three bright stars formed a perfect line. We talked about the universe and how big it is. Emma wondered if there was life on other planets. I said that nobody knows for sure. A shooting star suddenly crossed the sky. 'Make a wish!' Emma shouted. We both closed our eyes and made wishes. I wished for more nights like this one. The moon rose slowly above the trees. It was almost full and very bright. The moonlight made some stars harder to see. But it also made the landscape look magical. We could see the shadows of distant mountains. An owl hooted somewhere in the forest below. Emma took photos of the sky with her phone. They did not turn out very well, but we laughed about it. 'The stars are too far away for my phone camera,' she joked. Around midnight, we saw another shooting star. This one was even brighter than the first. We stayed on the hill until two in the morning. Finally, we got tired and packed up the blanket. The drive home was quiet and peaceful. Emma thanked me for the wonderful evening. I said we should do this again soon. It was one of the best nights I ever had.
