Sarah arrived in Barcelona on a sunny morning. It was her first trip to Spain. She checked into her hotel near the famous La Rambla street. After leaving her suitcase in her room, she decided to explore the city. 'I will just walk around for an hour,' she thought. The old city was full of narrow streets and tall buildings. Sarah walked past small shops and busy cafes. She took many photos with her phone. The architecture was beautiful. After two hours, Sarah realized she did not know where she was. All the streets looked the same to her. She tried to use the map on her phone, but there was no internet. Her battery was also getting low. 'I should have brought a paper map,' she said to herself. Sarah decided to ask someone for help. She walked up to an elderly man sitting outside a cafe. 'Excuse me, do you speak English?' she asked. The man shook his head and smiled. 'Un poco de español?' he asked. Sarah remembered some Spanish from school. 'Estoy perdida. ¿Dónde está La Rambla?' she said slowly. The man stood up and pointed down the street. He explained the directions in Spanish. Sarah understood some words: left, right, and straight. 'Muchas gracias!' she said with a big smile. Sarah followed the directions as best as she could. She turned left at a big church. Then she walked straight for five minutes. But soon she was lost again. The streets became even narrower. Sarah sat down on a bench in a small square. She felt tired and a little worried. A young woman with a dog walked past her. 'Are you okay?' the woman asked in English. Sarah was so happy to hear English! 'I am lost. I am trying to find La Rambla,' Sarah explained. The woman laughed kindly. 'It happens to everyone in the Gothic Quarter,' she said. 'I am going that way. You can walk with me.' Sarah thanked her many times. They walked together through the old streets. The woman's name was Maria. She told Sarah about the history of the neighborhood. Maria showed her a hidden square with a beautiful fountain. 'This is my favorite place in Barcelona,' Maria said. Sarah took a photo to remember it. After fifteen minutes, they arrived at La Rambla. The wide street was full of tourists and street performers. Sarah recognized her hotel at the end of the street. 'Thank you so much!' Sarah said to Maria. 'No problem! Enjoy Barcelona,' Maria replied. Sarah waved goodbye and walked to her hotel. In her room, she charged her phone. She looked at the photos from the day. The hidden square was the best photo. Sarah smiled and thought about the adventure. 'Getting lost was actually nice,' she realized. She had met kind people and found beautiful places. Tomorrow she would explore the city again. But this time, she would bring a paper map.
