Maria was reading a book in her living room. She noticed the words looked blurry. 'I cannot see the text clearly,' she thought. She moved the book farther from her face. Now she could read better. 'Maybe I need glasses,' Maria said to herself. The next morning, she called an eye doctor. 'Can I make an appointment?' she asked. 'Yes, we have time tomorrow at two o'clock,' the receptionist said. Maria arrived at the clinic the next day. The waiting room was small but comfortable. A nurse called her name after ten minutes. 'Please sit in this chair,' the nurse said. The eye doctor came into the room. 'Hello, Maria. What brings you here today?' he asked. 'I have trouble reading small text,' she explained. 'Let me check your eyes,' the doctor said. He turned off the lights in the room. 'Look at the chart on the wall,' he instructed. Maria read the letters on the chart. 'Can you read the bottom line?' he asked. 'No, it is too small,' she answered. The doctor used different lenses to test her vision. 'Is this clearer or blurrier?' he asked many times. After fifteen minutes, the exam was finished. 'You need reading glasses,' the doctor told her. 'Your eyes are healthy, but they have changed with age.' Maria felt relieved to hear the good news. 'Now you can choose your frames,' he said. She walked to the display area with many glasses. There were hundreds of frames in different colors and shapes. A shop assistant came to help her. 'What style do you prefer?' she asked. 'Something simple and elegant,' Maria replied. She tried on several pairs of glasses. The first pair was too big for her face. The second pair was too colorful. The third pair looked perfect. 'These are very nice,' the assistant said. Maria looked at herself in the mirror. 'I love these,' she said with a smile. The glasses had thin silver frames. 'They will be ready in three days,' the assistant explained. Maria paid for the glasses and left the shop. She felt excited about her new look.
