Emma sat in the kitchen with her mother. She looked worried and did not touch her tea. 'Mom, can I ask you something?' Emma said. 'Of course, dear. What is it?' her mother replied. 'I received a job offer yesterday,' Emma began. 'That sounds wonderful!' her mother said with a smile. 'But I am not sure if I should take it,' Emma continued. 'Tell me more about the job,' her mother said. 'It is at a company in another city,' Emma explained. 'I would have to move away from here.' Her mother nodded slowly and thought for a moment. 'What does your heart tell you?' she asked. 'I really want to try something new,' Emma admitted. 'But I am afraid of making the wrong choice.' 'What if I fail?' Emma asked. Her mother smiled gently and took her hand. 'Failure is part of life,' she said. 'We learn from our mistakes and grow stronger.' Emma looked at her mother with hope in her eyes. 'Do you think I should go?' she asked. 'I cannot make this decision for you,' her mother replied. 'But I can tell you what I see.' 'I see a young woman who is ready for a new adventure.' Emma felt her heart beat faster. 'You always know the right thing to say,' she said. 'What about you and dad?' Emma asked. 'Will you be okay without me here?' Her mother laughed softly. 'We will miss you, but we will be fine.' 'You can always visit us, and we can visit you.' Emma felt a weight lift from her shoulders. 'There is one more thing,' she said quietly. 'Tom asked me to think about our future.' 'He wants to get married soon.' Her mother raised her eyebrows in surprise. 'That is big news,' she said. 'How do you feel about it?' 'I love Tom very much,' Emma said. 'But I am only twenty-four years old.' 'I feel like I need more time.' 'That is completely normal,' her mother said. 'Marriage is a big step.' 'You should take it only when you are ready.' 'Have you talked to Tom about the job offer?' her mother asked. 'Not yet,' Emma admitted. 'I wanted to talk to you first.' 'You need to be honest with him,' her mother said. 'Tell him how you feel and what you want.' 'If he truly loves you, he will understand.' Emma stood up and hugged her mother tightly. 'Thank you, Mom,' she whispered. 'I feel so much better now.' 'That is what mothers are for,' her mother said warmly. The next evening, Emma met Tom at their favorite restaurant. She told him about the job offer. Tom listened carefully without interrupting. 'I think you should take it,' he said finally. Emma was surprised by his response. 'Really? But what about us?' she asked. 'I want you to be happy,' Tom said with a gentle smile. 'We can make this work, even with the distance.' Emma felt tears of joy in her eyes. 'You are the best thing that ever happened to me,' she said. Tom reached across the table and held her hand. 'We will figure it out together,' he promised. Three weeks later, Emma moved to the new city. She started her new job with excitement and hope. Her mother had been right all along. Sometimes you just need to take a chance. And the best advice often comes from the people who love you most.
