Tom feels sleepy in class. Mrs. Brown asks a question. 'Tom, what is two plus three?' Tom looks up quickly. He knows the answer. 'Five, Mom!' he says loudly. The class is silent. Then everyone laughs. Tom's face turns red. He called his teacher 'Mom'! Tom wants to hide under his desk. Mrs. Brown smiles kindly. 'That is correct, Tom,' she says. 'And I am happy to be your school mom.' The other children stop laughing. Tom feels a little better. After class, his friend Lisa talks to him. 'I called my teacher Dad once,' she says. 'Really?' Tom asks. 'Yes! It happens to everyone,' Lisa says. Tom smiles and feels okay.
