Jim travels to Bristol and meets Long John Silver at his tavern. He spots Black Dog there, but Silver claims ignorance. Captain Smollett expresses concerns about the crew knowing about the treasure. Despite warnings, the Hispaniola sets sail for Treasure Island.

During the voyage, Jim hides in an apple barrel and overhears Silver's true plans. Silver is a pirate who sailed with Captain Flint, and most of the crew are his men. They plan to kill the captain, squire, and doctor after finding the treasure. Jim warns his friends just as the island comes into view.

The crew goes ashore, and Jim runs into the forest. He witnesses Silver murder a loyal sailor named Tom. Fleeing in terror, Jim meets Ben Gunn, a castaway who was marooned on the island three years ago. Ben promises to help against Silver as cannon fire signals the start of battle.

Jim finds his friends in a wooden stockade on the island. Silver arrives with a white flag and demands the treasure map in exchange for their lives. Captain Smollett refuses, and the pirates attack. After a fierce battle, the pirates retreat, but both sides suffer casualties.

Chapter 8: My Sea Adventure

Jim secretly leaves the stockade to find Ben Gunn's hidden boat. Using the small coracle, he paddles out to the Hispaniola and cuts the anchor rope. The ship drifts away, but Jim is carried out to sea. When morning comes, he finds the ship nearby with only two men aboard.

Chapter 9: Israel Hands

Jim boards the drifting Hispaniola and finds Israel Hands wounded but alive. They agree to work together to beach the ship, but Hands plans to kill Jim. During their deadly fight on the mast, Jim shoots Hands just as the pirate throws his knife. Jim survives and returns to the stockade, only to find it captured by pirates.

Chapter 10: In the Enemy Camp

Jim is captured by the pirates and learns that Doctor Livesey traded the stockade and treasure map for their freedom. Silver protects Jim from the angry crew. The pirates give Silver the black spot, but he saves himself by showing the treasure map. Doctor Livesey visits and warns Silver that trouble awaits.

Chapter 11: The Treasure Hunt

Silver leads the pirates to find the treasure, taking Jim as prisoner. They discover a skeleton pointing the way and hear a ghostly voice singing. At the treasure site, they find only an empty hole - the gold is gone! As the furious pirates turn on Silver, Doctor Livesey and Ben Gunn arrive to save them.

Chapter 12: The Treasure and Home

Ben Gunn reveals he found the treasure months ago and moved it to his cave. The group loads the gold onto the Hispaniola and sails for home. During a stop in South America, Silver escapes with some gold. Back in England, the treasure is divided, and Jim uses his share to rebuild the family inn, never forgetting his adventure.
