Maria walked into the bank on Monday morning. She needed to open a new savings account. The bank was not very crowded. She took a number and waited for her turn. 'Number forty-seven, please come to window three,' said a voice. Maria walked to window three. A friendly woman smiled at her. 'Good morning, how can I help you today?' asked the teller. 'Good morning, I would like to open a savings account,' said Maria. 'Of course, I can help you with that,' replied the teller. 'Do you already have an account with us?' she asked. 'Yes, I have a checking account here,' said Maria. 'That makes things easier,' said the teller. 'May I see your identification card, please?' Maria took out her ID card and gave it to the teller. The teller looked at the card and typed something on her computer. 'I found your account,' she said. 'Now, we have two types of savings accounts.' 'The first one has no monthly fee but lower interest.' 'The second one has a small fee but higher interest.' 'Which one would you recommend?' asked Maria. 'It depends on how much you want to save,' said the teller. 'If you plan to save more than five thousand euros, the second option is better.' 'I think I will choose the second one,' said Maria. 'Good choice,' said the teller with a smile. 'How much would you like to deposit today?' 'I would like to deposit three hundred euros,' said Maria. She took out the cash from her bag. The teller counted the money carefully. 'Three hundred euros, correct,' she confirmed. 'I need you to sign these forms,' said the teller. She placed two documents in front of Maria. Maria read the forms and signed them. 'Your new account is now active,' said the teller. 'Here is your account number and PIN code.' 'Please keep the PIN code secret.' 'Can I also get a debit card for this account?' asked Maria. 'Yes, the card will arrive at your address in five days.' 'Is there anything else I can help you with today?' 'Actually, yes,' said Maria. 'I need to transfer some money to my sister.' 'Do you have her account number?' asked the teller. Maria showed the number on her phone. 'How much would you like to transfer?' asked the teller. 'Two hundred euros, please,' said Maria. The teller completed the transfer. 'The money will arrive in her account tomorrow morning.' 'Thank you so much for your help,' said Maria. 'You are welcome, have a nice day!' said the teller. Maria left the bank feeling happy with her new account.
