Emma is twenty years old. Today is a special day for her. She is going to fly on a plane for the first time. Emma wakes up very early in the morning. She is too excited to sleep. Her father drives her to the airport. The airport is very big and busy. Emma sees many people with suitcases. She says goodbye to her father. 'Have a good flight!' he says with a smile. Emma goes to the check-in desk. A friendly woman helps her. Emma shows her passport and ticket. She puts her suitcase on the belt. The woman gives Emma a boarding pass. 'Your seat is 12A, by the window,' she says. Emma is happy to have a window seat. Next, she goes through security. She takes off her shoes and puts her bag in a tray. Everything goes well. Emma waits at the gate for her flight. She looks at the big planes outside the window. Soon, a voice says: 'Boarding for flight 234 to Paris.' Emma stands up and walks to the door. She shows her boarding pass to the man. Emma walks through a long tunnel to the plane. A flight attendant welcomes her with a smile. Emma finds her seat and sits down. She looks out the window at the airport. A man sits down next to her. 'Hello! Is this your first flight?' he asks. 'Yes, it is,' Emma says. 'I am a little nervous.' 'Don't worry, flying is very safe,' he says kindly. The captain speaks on the radio. 'Good morning, everyone. We will fly to Paris today.' The flight attendant shows how to use the seat belt. Emma puts on her seat belt and holds it tight. The plane starts to move slowly. It goes faster and faster on the runway. Then, the plane lifts up into the sky! Emma feels her stomach go up. She looks out the window. The houses and cars look very small now. Soon, the plane is above the white clouds. The sky is bright blue and beautiful. 'Wow!' Emma says. 'This is amazing!' The man next to her smiles. 'I told you it would be nice,' he says. A flight attendant brings drinks and snacks. Emma takes an orange juice and a small cookie. She is not nervous anymore. She is happy and excited. After two hours, the plane starts to go down. Emma sees the city of Paris below. She sees the Eiffel Tower! The plane lands smoothly on the runway. Emma claps her hands with the other passengers. 'Thank you for flying with us,' says the captain. Emma takes her bag and walks off the plane. She smiles and thinks: 'I can't wait to fly again!'
